About
About Map My Friends
A small, independent UK web app for sharing everyday moments with the people you actually know.
Map My Friends started from a simple idea: it’s nice to see where your friends are and what they’re up to today — but not at the cost of being tracked, or of strangers seeing your photos. So posts are friends-only, approximate by default, and gone tomorrow.
How it’s built
- Everything is served from our own server: the app, the fonts and even the map. Your browser doesn’t contact Google, map companies or advertising networks when you use it.
- The map uses MapLibre with map data from © OpenStreetMap contributors, packaged by Protomaps in the PMTiles format.
- Invite QR codes are made on our server with the MIT-licensed QR code generator by Kazuhiko Arase. (“QR Code” is a registered trademark of DENSO WAVE.)
- The type is Gabarito and Rethink Sans, both under the SIL Open Font Licence.
Who runs it
